I had surgery earlier this week, and while I am recovering fine, I just have not had the brainpower to complete the post about the Parrot Tarot cards I just finished. So instead, I am just going to send you all something to delight your senses with a few life updates that have been happening in the background.
I recently passed my Fundamentals of Astrology Year 2 Examination, the culmination of an incredibly in-depth year-long seminar with Astrologer par excellence, Austin Coppack. This means that I am proficient in not only analyzing a birth chart (that was Year 1), but I can apply techniques like Zodiacal releasing, Electional Astrology, Talisman creation, Astrological Magic, and my favorite, Chart Remediation. I will be taking the Year 3 seminar as well, which will be starting soon. I have been a long-time magical practitioner but knew didly-squat about astrology, and at some point, one realizes that in order to really upgrade one’s magic, one needs to know their astrology as well. So, inspired by the fact that I wanted to read baby Hawk’s birth chart, I dove in head first, as you do. In another year, I will probably be adding some astrological offerings to my repertoire.
Speaking of repertoire, I recently did a tarot reading for a friend. I love doing tarot readings and often I pull cards for friends anytime they ask. It’s never something I monetized. But I am thinking of offering the Cadillac reading: an hour of consultation, recorded on video, at least one major spread with several other smaller ones as the questions evolve, and a recap email with photos and recording afterwards as a purchasable experience for $150. I’m still happy to pull a card or two or three for you anytime for free. I’m not trying to make a tarot business, but be your friendly neighborhood diviner if you need one. But I also like the idea of offering a fancy and super in-depth package option if that’s something you are interested in, especially as Parrot Tarot starts coming online here very soon!
Parrot Tarot is going well. I have only 3 cards left to finish, the 8, 9, and 10 of Fruit (Disks), a relief and much-needed vibe shift after the 8, 9, and 10 of Feathers (Swords). As I mentioned, I am writing the full post on the Feathers cards, it’s a doozy and quite a tale of whoa and woe. Here’s a sneak peek at the three cards:

I have been collaborating with Baby Hawk since he could hold a drawing implement, but I have become particularly fond of a few things we’ve created recently and they are too good not to share.
The energy in this one is just infectious. You can see Princess Celestia and Princess Luna in the piece as well.
The one below features Mjölnir, Thor’s Hammer, which Hawk is very obsessed with. Well, he’s very into storm gods recently, Zues and Thor, mainly. I love how this one came out.
Speaking of things Hawk is obsessed with, the number one thing has to be Hanuman. Hanuman is the Hindu Monkey God of the Ramayana, but is probably the most popular diety in India today. The amount of Hanumans I draw and paint for him at this point, not to mention how many times we’ve listened to the Chalisa, probably amounts my own devotional practice as well. Not to mention I have now crocheted Hawk his own Vajra and Hanuman Helmet which he wears with his crocheted monkey tail.
Of course, one of most recent collabs has been this Hanuman below, which features the narrative of Hanuman meditating so long that ice has formed around him. Then, he breaks out of the ice because he is called to help someone (all of the blue paint is the ice). Hawk has had a long personal mythological narrative of being stuck in the ice and then breaking free, literally since he was less than a year old. I think it has something to do with how he was born and he’s working through some stuff, but it’s fascinating to watch it evolve in a variety of different ways.
I think this year’s baby Hawk portrait will need to be baby Hanuman flying up to try and eat the Sun because he thought it was a giant mango. It’s one of his favorite games to play. Stay tuned for that.
And lastly, we also collaborate on using Procreate and because the program can record your process as you use it, this mesmerizing video was created over the last 6 months of us making this work.
There is a pretty intense Mars and Pluto opposition going exact Saturday, so stay safe out there. If things are feeling extra crazy and intense, that’s why.
Much love to all of you!
