I have a lot of things in progress and I thought it would be fun to share them with you. I love seeing other artists’ in-progress work to see their creative process, brushwork, methodology, and so many more reasons. Here’s a peak not only into the art but also where I am creating everything. I’ve always preferred having my studio in my home as easily accessible as possible. I like working in a real free-flowing way, grabbing time for a few brush strokes here, crocheting something in front of the TV there, and sewing something over there. While I love a good focus session, my life rarely affords me the luxury of sequestering myself away for a length of creative output time, so spreading it out over the day is the only way I get anything done and I’ve made it work for me through full-time jobs and now a toddler. Happy you are all here and let’s dive in.
This piece I shared when it was just the drawing and here I’ve finished the first layer of white casein. I’ll paint the whole thing in the yellow glaze next. This is a portrait of me and my mother as Persephone and Demeter after an ancient temple relief sculpture depicting the Eleusinian mysteries, which is famously also the cover of this book. I’ll do a whole post about just this coming up soon. But we are wearing two of my absolute favorite vintage (true) Alexander McQueen couture ensembles. Fashion is and will always be very important to me and as I don’t really do runway shows of my own work anymore, I’ve decided to start incorporating my favorite couture looks into my paintings.

I am also creating a lot of fun and affordable things for my Etsy shop for the holidays. I made this one-of-a-kind altar tapestry of my Merdonna and Child painting and I am working on similar unique altar tapestries for several of my other paintings as well.
I am pairing each of these top-quality canvas giclee prints with French jacquard ribbons, Chinese satin brocades, beautifully woven ribbons, metallic trims, velvet ribbon, and only the highest quality materials. These are sumptuous, lavish, and would beautifully adorn a sacred space in your home and altar space. They cannot be duplicated as many of these materials are highly limited in quantity.
These are in progress above but you can see how they evolve. I need to iron and sew them secure and then attach the gold cording and the small dowl rod that keeps them hanging straight. Below are the ones that I still need to pair with their ornamental ribbons, fabrics and trims. These will all be going in my Etsy shop as soon as they are finished for the same price as the Merdonna and Child above. If you fancy one and would like to claim it now, please reach out to me.
I’m also working on these fun wooden panels shaped like unicorns and mushrooms! These will be really unique little paintings mixed with fabric and ribbon tassels and fringe. Hard to imagine but you’ve gotta trust me on this vision. I’ll continue to share these as they develop. I’ve been wanting to do this for many years and finally, I have some time to get them made.

The unicorns will all have - drum roll please - chrome unicorns in 1980s fantasy aesthetic on them <squeal!!!!> This is going to be too much fun to paint and I can’t wait to share progress.
I also have a commission I am working on for a patron and my Parrot Tarot deck. I’m just starting the 8, 9, and 10 of Eggs (Cups). I am going to feature a trio of utterly stunning Australian and Tasmanian blue and rainbow-hued parrots, so these will be very fun to paint, and I can’t wait to share them with you. Here’s one of my references, the beautiful Swift parrot, below.
It’s a busy time for me and the proverbial workshop “elves” (who I wish were real) creating all of these beautiful things but I couldn’t be happier. All of these years having to put my art second after my day job has made me even more grateful that I get to spend my time taking care of baby Hawk and making the world a more beautiful place. Speaking of baby Hawk, the little guy just turned two last month. Here’s his journey from his first to his second birthday. It just blows me away at how much he’s grown. Life is truly amazing.
💖💖💖💖🌌🌌🌌 you are a prolific multitasker! I applaud you!
