Parrot Tarot Announcement

Are you ready to bring this deck into the world?

After over 6 years of working on this project, Parrot Tarot is ready to enter its Kickstarter era.

I will be launching the preview page for the campaign within the week and you will be the first to know about it.

This will enable you to sign up for updates and get first access to the launch of the campaign.

The campaign itself will go live in a month!

To say this project has been a labor of love would be an understatement. Each card begins in a research stage. Once I had completed the Majors, each card I work on is considered with its corresponding Major Arcana cards laid out. Since the Thoth deck is my reference tarot, I always use the card created by Lady Frida Harris and Aleister Crowley as my starting point. Once I meditate and feel into the card I am working on next, I look up the several parrots I am considering for the card and narrow down to the single most appropriate bird that matches the meaning of the card most. This means that each parrot is related to the meaning of the card in some way. Then I lay out the design of the card, draw it in with a pencil and then ink it in with my trusty Micron pens. Finally, the card gets painted with my luscious Holbein watercolors and chroma-rich Copic markers. From start to finish, each card takes about 10-20 hours of work.

So much life has happened since I began this deck. We bought a home, moved into it, got pregnant, had a baby, had four different amazing whiskey advocacy and marketing jobs, quit those to become a full-time artist, and so much, much more.

I am finishing the last few artworks and the card cover as I write this. I also have designed the card’s border and I just love how they look.

As we get ready to launch the Kickstarter, I am going to go into some of the amazing stories and inner workings of this deck. My goal was to create something that was not only a true tribute to the incredible world of parrots, their lives, personalities, ecological struggles and triumphs, but a tarot deck that was esoterically sound as well. With the upcoming deep dives into these details, I hope you will think I have succeeded as well.
