The summer is starting off with a flurry of activity as I have two openings this Saturday in San Francisco. The first features my piece, Madonna of the Dinosaurs at ARC Gallery for the show curated by the Northern California Women’s Caucus for the Arts called ACCESS: An Ordinary Notion. You can find out more details HERE.
My statement about Madonna of the Dinosaurs is as follows.
In a desolate and apocalyptic background representing the violence our culture is enacting on mothers, the Madonna, dressed in couture, takes a moment to feed her babe. Access to reproductive and maternal healthcare shouldn’t even be a question, yet our country is more restrictive than ever. This painting is a prayer that we rebuild the support for mothers which we have systematically eroded and to provide the structure that allows each new generation to flourish.
The opening is Saturday, June 15th from 7-9pm.
A hop skip and a jump across San Francisco and you reach Modern Eden Gallery. I was invited back to participate in their portrait show, themed Myth. You can read all about this piece if you missed my blog about my inspiration behind Echidna, Mother of Toddlers HERE.
I will probably start my evening here as their opening is from 6-9pm. You can preview the utterly incredible work in the show HERE and I highly recommend you do. I’m in incredible company. I always feel really good about my piece until I see everyone else’s piece in the show. Phew! Such amazing work is always humbling to be a part of.
If you are in town, I’d love to see you at the openings. Feel free to reach out and let me know you are coming!
Another project that has come to fruition is this commission piece I have been working on for over 6 months now. It’s a wedding present from a father to his daughter who is getting married. First of all, that is just the sweetest thing. What an incredible present. I asked the couple how they wanted to be portrayed and they answered they wanted to be high fantasy space elves, ie. Tolkein in space. Here is the finished piece and I am so excited on how it turned out. It was really such a joy to do. I am super honored that it will be on display during the wedding celebration festivities.
With the completion of this piece, I am opening up commissions. If you have a special project that you would like to discuss with me, I would love to hear it. Please feel free to message me your ideas. I have a range of price options as well as very reasonable payment plans if you need them.
Thank you always everyone for your support in all the ways that you all show up. It truly means the world to me.
Beautiful inspiring work as always!!!
